In February 1st and 2nd Classes learned how to make butter!
Everybody took a turn to shake up the cream in a clean jam jar! It took a long time to turn into butter!
Our grandparents would have used a churn to make butter by hand and nowadays there are special devices and machines to make butter quickly and easily!
We saved the buttermilk to use later on.
After we rinsed the butter in cold water we sprinkled some salt on it and shaped it into a block of butter! Then we had some crackers with the butter! They were delicious!!!
We really enjoyed making our own butter!!!
